Lokahi Giving Project

LOKAHI BACK 2 SCHOOL DRIVE
The long list of supplies students need to start the school year is taxing on local families who struggle to keep up with the rising costs of life in Hawaii. Our Lokahi Giving Project is pulling together to make sure Hawaii's keiki have the tools they need to succeed in school.

Lokahi and KHON2 are happy to bring back our "Back 2 School" Drive this summer.

Our goal is to collect enough donations so no student will go back to school empty handed, and teachers won't have to pay out of their own pockets to supply their classrooms.

    Top 10 Items Needed:
  1. Folder paper wide and college ruled
  2. #2 pencils
  3. Blue/black and red pens
  4. Composition books wide and college ruled
  5. Scissors round and regular point
  6. Folders
  7. 1, 3 or 5 subject notebooks
  8. Rulers
  9. Glue and glue sticks
  10. Hand soap, paper towels, and tissues
You can drop off donations through the end of July at one of these locations:
  • Ben Franklin
  • Education Works
  • Hawaii Self Storage
  • A-American Self Storage
  • Starbucks will join our campaign for a final push for donations from July 15th-July 31st.
If you'd like to pitch in money to purchase needed school supplies, you can make a donation to Lokahi at any Central Pacific Bank Branch. You can also make a donation online at www.lokahigivingproject.com.

Upcoming Lokahi Back 2 School Events
Price Buster's newest location at Ward Centre, the Seasonal Store & More will hold a Lokahi Back 2 School drive on Saturday, July 19th. Details to come.

As part of the Lokahi Back 2 School Drive, our Lokahi Giving Project and KHON2 want to recognize outstanding teachers in our community. One teacher per county will be awarded a prize package valued at more than $2,000 dollars. To nominate your teacher, we want to know why you think they should win.
